Mitali Mukherjee

Mitali Mukherjee is a TEDx speaker and one of the most well known faces in the world of business journalism in India. With over 15 years experience in the television industry, she has handled a wide range of issues — from politics to global & local economics.

She is the CEO & Co- founder at Samarthan, a platform to enable civil society sectors and industries and engage them in the social economy. Samarthan helps organisations and people connect and gain knowledge to grow the Social Economy.

She also is the co-founder and editor of The MoneyMile. A key focus area for her is spreading awareness amongst women on the need & importance of investing.

She was previously News & Markets Editor at CNBC TV18 for over a decade. She has also worked with the TV Today group, Doordarshan (India’s National Broadcaster) & BBC World.

In 2017 she represented India as a youth leader at The Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) held in Sydney & Melbourne. She’s a gold medallist in Political Science from Delhi University & a gold medallist in TV Journalism from The Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

Hindol Sengupta

Hindol Sengupta is an award-winning writer and journalist. He is the author of seven books. He has been a Hayek Prize nominee and won the 2015 PSF Award for public service. In 2017, the World Economic Forum selected him as a Young Global Leader.

Shutapa Paul

Shutapa Paul has been a journalist for almost 11 years, having worked across various mediums such as television, newspapers and magazines. Currently, she is Group Editor of a digital media startup called Newsd, where she leads the editorial team. Newsd has short news apps, a website, YouTube channels etc. Shutapa has also started a YouTube channel dedicated to startups called NewCrop in association with NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups.

Hailing from Kolkata, Shutapa is based out of New Delhi. After completing her Bachelor’s in English (Honours) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, Shutapa went on to pursue her Post-Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. She also represented India at Thomson Reuter’s Editorial Judgement programme held in London, UK in 2014.

During the span of her career, Shutapa has worked for well-known brands such as NDTV, NewsX, India Today, The Week, and Forbes India. She is a keen observer of politics, economy, policy and current affairs. Interviewing people who matter, simplifying complex economic and policy matters, unearthing human interest stories and diving deep into every story, keeps Shutapa motivated. She has also founded a media consultancy startup called Dharma Media Consultants.

Monique Schafter

Monique Schafter is a Walkley Award winning journalist and documentary filmmaker who reports for the ABC’s nightly flagship current affairs program, 7.30.

She has interviewed icons such as Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, Russian feminist punk collective Pussy Riot and rock legend Iggy Pop, and has sought out the voices of young asylum seekers, LGBTI trailblazers, domestic violence survivors, and an assortment of everyday heroes with fascinating stories.

Previously, Monique co-hosted the ABC’s ground-breaking current affairs / comedy program Hungry Beast, produced by Andrew Denton.

A gold medallist in Television Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi and a gold medallist in Political Science (Honours) from Delhi University, Mitali brings a unique perspective to her interaction with expert panels and viewers alike.

In the field of education, Mitali holds a postgraduate qualification in teaching children with learning disabilities and works on assessing and remediating children with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. She has also created learning tools specifically for children where English is not the primary language.

With a strong people-connect, Mitali brings a deep understanding of India’s socio-economic strengths and weaknesses and a passion for the twin fields of journalism and education.

Shilpa Dhamija

Shilpa Dhamija is the founder of LuxuryVolt, one of southeast Asia’s most influential luxury lifestyle editorial startups. LuxuryVolt also maintains presence in popular offline mediums like The Telegraph, The Hindu Business Line and Hello! Magazine, with luxury trend reports and expert opinion articles.

Shilpa completed a long stint with NDTV, India’s most respected English news channel, before venturing on the LuxuryVolt journey. She is also a gadget and consumer technology reviewer, who produced and directed a tech show, which during her stint became the highest rated ‘tech show’ in the history of Indian Television.

Shilpa’s work as a TV journalist started with CNBC TV 18 and CNN-IBN, the former Indian partner of CNN, where she covered politics, business, crime beats. She has also worked with the Times of India newspaper, prior to her job at this network.

As an AIYD 2017 delegate, she hopes to encourage the growth of young entrepreneurs and initiatives to promote tourism & culture between India and Australia.

Kushan Mitra

Kushan Mitra is the Managing Editor of The Pioneer. His career in journalism started a decade and a half ago, when as a Masters student he started working in The Hindustan Times as an intern covering the booming Indian business sector. As the India story started to take off in various sectors such as telecom, automotive and aviation, he carried on writing and reporting stories from across the country and quit his studies because seeing the India story unfold in front of him was fascinating. He moved on to Business Today, India’s leading business magazine, as a features writer and wrote stories on virtually every sector of the Indian economy as well as Indian polity. He rose through the ranks in nine years, ending up as a Senior Associate Editor.

Kushan then moved to The Pioneer, India’s second-oldest English daily, to write on various sectors, look after digital initiatives and at extending the brand. In addition to writing stories on Indian business, he is a long-time motorhead and a motoring journalist, although he prefers the term ‘motor noter’ and has been reviewing life on four wheels for his publications and others over the years.

Linh Do

Linh Do is a social change advocate and has been working on environmental issues since 2006. She has a background in community organising, campaigning, journalism and strategy development. Linh has worked with a wide array of individuals, from high school students to UNEP and the Reuters Foundation. Linh co-founded OurSay, a technology service, and is currently the editor-in-chief at The Verb, an environmental newswire service telling the stories that matter. It specialises in covering the UN processes through localising and humanising climate change stories.

Linh obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and Environmental Studies) from the University of Melbourne. She has completed a fellowship at the Centre for Sustainability Leadership and further professional studies at the Harvard Kennedy School.

In 2013, Linh was named a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, Australian Geographic Young Conservationist of the Year and one of Junior Chamber International Outstanding Young Persons of the World. She is signed with BookedOut Agency and Claxton Speakers. Linh is based in Melbourne with extensive overseas experience.

Rishabh Gulati

Rishabh is the News Editor and a prime time Anchor at a national English language news channel in India, NewsX. His primary responsibilities range from helping to take editorial decisions, overseeing minute-by-minute news coverage and managing the newsroom and news flow especially during breaking news situations. A student of journalism from the University of Delhi and later International Relations from the University of Manchester, he specialises in the study of the political history, of not only his native country, but also the world.

Rishabh has also founded and manages forums and organisations targeted to build capacity, leadership qualities and skills development in key social policy areas. He was the founding President of Leaders for Tomorrow which is a youth organisation targeting skills development, he currently chairs Global Youth, a forum to encourage young people in India to partake in the formulation of strategic and foreign policy; as well as The Aethos Initiative which looks to promote youth participation in social policy. He’s also a stage actor and director and a published poet.

Harsh Sanghavi
