Sonakshi Chaudhry

Sonakshi Chaudhry is a Trustee at the Woman of the Elements Trust, which she started along with her mother in 2012. The Trust provides free legal aid to women and child victims of domestic violence. She is also a freelance editor, writer, and content creator. She is currently working as a Researcher and Editorial Lead for a podcast examining female labour force participation in India.

Previously, Sonakshi has worked as a Consultant at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, in the Economic Advisor’s Bureau. Prior to that, she was a Research Assistant at the Observer Research Foundation, working on the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) project.

Sonakshi was among the youngest recipients of the 2016-17 Chevening scholarship through which she pursued an MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict at the University of Sussex. She completed her undergraduate studies at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi in 2014 and subsequently worked as an Assistant Editor at Vayu Aerospace and Defence Review. She has also edited and written several titles for a leading children’s book publisher in Delhi.
