ANITA CHOUHAN

Shrimati Anita Chouhan is a distinguished first-generation tribal woman leader from Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradesh, and belongs to the Bhilala tribal community. She holds a postgraduate degree in law from Indore Institute of Law, Indore, and is currently pursuing her PhD at Sage University, Indore. She is the first member of her family to attain a graduation degree.

Shrimati Chouhan is married to Shri Nagar Singh Chauhan, who is serving his fourth term as a member of the legislative assembly from the Alirajpur constituency and currently holds the position of Cabinet Minister for Forest and Environment in the government of Madhya Pradesh.

In 2024, she was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Ratlam Lok Sabha Constituency, making her only the second woman to be elected from this constituency. She has also served as the President of the Zila Panchayat in Alirajpur district for nine consecutive years, from 2015 to 2024.

Renowned for her integrity, humility, and strong connection with grassroots communities, Shrimati Chouhan is particularly dedicated to women's issues, including women’s empowerment and girl child education. She is an active participant in the Swachh Bharat Mission. Under her leadership as Zila Panchayat President, the district achieved ODF Plus status. Her life’s work is dedicated to social causes and the welfare of tribal communities, especially tribal women.
