Anika Wells
Anika Wells MP is the youngest woman in the Australian House of Representatives. She worked as a lawyer before succeeding in the federal seat of Lilley in May 2019 from the Honourable Wayne Swan, former Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer. Anika currently serves on the Joint Standing Committee for Northern Australia; the House of Representatives Committees for Privileges and Members’ Interests and as Deputy Chair for Publications. In her First Speech to parliament in July, she outlined her defining purpose in public life is to be a good ancestor. She is particularly interested in driving policy for our sustainable future, a more equal nation and making Australia the best place to be a child in the developed world.
