Omkar Sathe

Omkar is a Mechanical Engineer from Pune University & an MBA from IIM Calcutta, who’s worked for marquee companies including Asian Paints & Reliance Jio. He currently serves as the Head of Innovation & New Product at UltraTech Cement, a $5 Billion dollar company within the Aditya Birla Group conglomerate. His work in Sales & Marketing spans across product lines- from Toffee to Technology – & with diverse exposure- from legal, packaging supply chain, R&D and even creating TV commercials.

With Reliance Jio, he worked on building their next big retail technology business. With Asian Paints, he’s worked with Sales & Marketing, one of the highlights being the creation of a market for an environmentally friendly paint – Royale Aspira – the only product in India certified by Green SealTM , USA.

Public policy is a keen area of interest, where he has pursued formal short term courses including Kautilya Fellows Program, held by India Foundation in association with the Ministry of External Affairs. These have been applied in policy research work, including on India’s affirmative action program & on Data protection laws.

Omkar also volunteers for a Rural development initiative, helping bridge the urban-rural income inequality gap. In his spare time, he plays football, sings terribly, reads science fiction & drinks unhealthy amounts of coffee. Travel is a huge passion, & he’s visited 20 countries so far.
