Sonia Arakkal

Sonia Arakkal is a Policy Fellow at the Perth US Asia Centre. Sonia directs the Centre’s India programs and supports policy development through publication and advisory work on Australia-India relations. Sonia is also the co-founder of Think Forward, a lobbying group that seeks to address intergenerational inequity in Australia.

Sonia was previously a political staffer for federal and state parliamentarians in Canberra, Melbourne and Perth. Prior to this she was a management consultant for Nous Group and an analyst for political lobbying firm Hawker Britton.

Sonia’s foreign policy commentary has been featured in local and international media outlets. Her opinion pieces have been published in The Australian, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald and she is a regular panelist on ABC’s ‘The Drum’. Sonia has a degree in law and international relations with honors from the Australian National University.
