Akshay Tyagi (he/his) is the Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group and a Founding Member of the Keshav Suri Foundation. Holding a postgraduate degree from AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, Akshay is dedicated to fostering inclusive environments and driving positive change for marginalized communities.
Akshay's approach to DEI is comprehensive and intersectional, aiming to create a welcoming and equitable workplace for all team members, irrespective of their sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or other marginalized identities. In his role, Akshay develops and implements innovative DEI initiatives that have significantly impacted the organization and the broader community. His efforts empower the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, acid attack survivors, women in the workplace, and various other minority groups.
Through his work, Akshay collaborates with over 100 NGOs and CBOs to promote Pride Marches and inclusivity efforts. He has sensitized over 200 corporate organizations and 100 schools and colleges on DEI. Additionally, he is a sought-after speaker at conferences and events, where he shares his insights and best practices on DEI. Akshay's commitment to DEI has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including the Red Achievers Award by the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Emerging HR Leader Award by the Times of India, and the Trans Ally Award by Tweet Foundation.
