The distinguished alumni of the Australia India Youth Dialogue will be hosted at a special reception at the iconic Admiralty House in October 2019. On Wednesday 9 October 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, will welcome young leaders from Australia and India at the Admiralty House in Sydney.

Australia India Youth Dialogue has been awarded the Community Services Excellence (Organization) Award 2019 at the India Australia Business and Community Awards (IABCA) held in Brisbane. The India Australia Business & Community Awards platform celebrates the Australia India relationship while honouring entrepreneurship and community leadership and we are thrilled to have been recognised for our work and contribution.

India Economic Strategy (IES) 2035 report authored by Mr. Peter N. Varghese, Chancellor, University of Queensland recognises the importance of people – to people links as part of the bilateral architecture and being leadership driven.

India Economic Strategy 2035 report was released in July, last month by PM Turnbull who commissioned Mr. Peter N. Varghese, Chancellor, University of Queensland to write this detailed report covering comprehensive themes, sectors and regions of India. This report will certainly be a credible reference for bilateral stakeholders to quote and catalyse initiatives that foster India-Australia relationship stronger not just economically but also in the areas of government engagement, social and cultural context.

Cultural diplomacy is defined as the promotion of art, educational customs, value systems, and other forms of cultural production by national governments with the objective of fostering mutual understanding and ultimately better foreign relations. Traditionally, state-sponsored cultural diplomacy took two forms.

Last week marked Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Education Minister Simon Birmingham’s first visit to India as they both set out to engage seriously with their Indian counterparts. This visit was of particular significance due to the growing opportunity for partnerships between Australia and India in Skill Development.

Prime Minister Turnbull’s visit to India this week heralds another step forward in the strengthening relationship between India and Australia. Visits in recent years by a number of Australian Prime Ministers and a reciprocal visit by Prime Minister Modi demonstrate the importance both countries are placing on the relationship.

Meet the 30 outstanding young leaders from Australia and India who will be gathering in Melbourne and Sydney on 15-18 February for the annual AIYD conference. Our 2017 delegates represent an extensive and diverse array of talent, skills and experience, from social change makers to elite sportspeople and entrepreneurs; from medics, academics and writers to strategists, innovators and film directors.

The Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) is excited to announce that applications for AIYD 2017 are now open. The AIYD annual conference hosts 30 emerging young leaders from Australia and India over four days to engage on issue that are of significance to the Australia-India relationship.

The Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) is a path-breaking initiative that has added a whole new dimension to the Australia-India relationship. Since its first annual conference in 2012 in India, the AIYD has been bringing together emerging young leaders from both countries every year.

Among the delegates at this year’s Australia India Youth Dialogue was Asialink Business manager of partnerships and development Natalie Cope. The AIYD is pleased to announce the programme for AIYD 2016. The programme includes speakers such as Salman Khurshid, former Minister of External affairs; Chris Elstoft,Deputy High Commissioner, Australian High Commission, New Delhi; Ambassador (Retd) Amit Dasgupta, Former Indian Consul-General in Sydney; Sundeep Sahni, Vice President, New Initiatives, Ola Cabs; and Mukund Narayamurti, CEO, Asialink Business, amongst other high-profile speakers.

Applications are now open for the fifth Australia India Youth Dialogue which is scheduled to be hosted in Delhi, Mohali and Bengaluru (India) in late-January 2016. Applications will close at 11:59pm IST on 18 September 2015.

The Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) is excited to welcome Asia Society Australia on board as a Strategic Partner of AIYD. Asia Society Australia is Australia’s leading national centre for engagement with the Indo-Pacific Asia, based in Sydney. Since 1997, it has been promoting greater connectivity and deeper understanding between Australia and the Indo-Pacific, making it a natural partner of the AIYD.

AIYD Alumni and Steering Committee members met in India’s innovation capital, Bangalore, on 14 July 2015. Co-Founders of AIYD, Shaun Star (Chair) and Ruchir Punjabi (Former Chair) along with Vidyananda Sagaram (Director), hosted an alumni event which was attended by former AIYD delegates from each of the four previous conferences.

On 14 April 2015, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Australia, The Hon. Julie Bishop MP, addressed an audience at St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi about the benefits of people-to-people relationships at a youth level.

On 26 January, as India commemorated Republic Day and Australians celebrated Australia Day, Cricket Australia hosted 30 young leaders from Australia and India to kick off the Australia India Youth Dialogue 2015. As part of proceedings, the delegates heard from a panel of experts about the role of sport in diplomacy.
