ELIZA ARCHER
Eliza is a Policy Officer in the Geostrategic and Quad Branch of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Prior to this, she worked as an Adviser at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. While at PM&C she worked on the Climate and Clean Energy track of the 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit, on international policy that worked to deepen bilateral relationships in the Pacific and New Zealand, and advised on Official Development Assistance policy. She previously worked on trade with the United Kingdom and Europe at the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.
Before joining the public service, Eliza spent time working on trade and public diplomacy at the Delegation of the European Union to Australia in Canberra and at the Delegation of the European Union to New Zealand in Wellington. While studying, she also completed an internship at NewsMavens; a pan-European news organisation that aimed to combat sexist news coverage across Europe.
Eliza holds a Double Masters in European Governance from the Utrecht University, Netherlands and Masaryk University, Czech Republic, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. Eliza has a particular interest in women’s history and is passionate about encouraging young women and diverse people into politics and policy.
