ANURAG MALOO
Anurag Maloo is an Indian mountaineer, ultra athlete, entrepreneur and a survivor, who has left an indelible mark through his extraordinary journey. Anurag made global headlines after surviving a fatal 300m fall into a deep icy 80m crevasse on Mount Annapurna in Nepal in April 2023. Equipped with a thirst for adventure, he honed his climbing skills, scaling peaks like Mt Ama Dablam and Mt Nun including navigating treacherous terrain on Mt Annapurna. He is on the mission to climb all the big 14*8000m peaks and 7 highest Summits to create awareness and drive action by engaging local communities and support innovation towards achieving the UN Global Goals as part of his *Climbing4SDGs* initiative. Professionally, Anurag has passionately spent the last decade leading and nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem development efforts for the global venture capital and investment firms, Seedstars for 4 years and Techstars for 6 years, helping entrepreneurs and technology businesses in emerging markets of Asia-Pacific.
Anurag is the founding curator of World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Ajmer hub. He has been awarded the Fellowship of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), and recognised with the Karmaveer Chakra Award and the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship, for his commitment and tireless courage and he has also been awarded with the RISE Global Hero Award in 2024 under the citizenship category for taking the path less travelled and initiating a wave of change in society.
Beyond mountaineering, Anurag's global travels across 60+ countries have enriched his storytelling prowess, empowering audiences to break stereotypes and work towards a fairer, more equitable world.
